Membrane Sensor

Overview:

The collection and the processing of the information has been always playing a key role during an information revolution. Whereas in the era of Internet of Things, sensor technology is regarded as the key. A sensor is the eyes and the ears of IoT.

Ideal Jacobs provides highly customized membrane sensors with the fine-line silkscreen printing technology. With the feature of being ultra-thin, flexible, durable and ease of installation, our membrane sensors favor in our customer’s product innovation and cost reduction.

Ideal Jacobs currently specifies in two types of sensors: Film Force Sensor & Position Sensor.

--The Film Force Sensor responds to a different resistance value by the force applied to the sensing area.

--The Position senor is a device that can detect the movement of an object and convert it into electrical signals. It further detects motion, speed, direction or distance of a target. It is also known as membrane potentiometer.

Membrane switches, which are also referred to as Membrane Keyboards or Membrane keypads, are made by printing colored and conductive inks onto Polyester or Polycarbonate films. The top layer creates the graphical design whilst the lower layers contain the printed circuitry layers.

A membrane switch operates when electrical contact is made by pressing the finger onto the switch contact area and broken when the finger is released. With the addition of metal domes within the structure, it is possible to add a specific tactile response for each key.

It is an electrical control for turning a circuit on and off.  Membrane switches are more cost-effective and take up less design space than mechanical switches or buttons because of their low profile. Membrane switches are easy to clean which makes them ideal for Medical or industrial controls.
